Historique :
La caserne dite caserne Bazeilles, édifiée en 1758, est le seul élément subsistant d'un vaste projet conçu par l'ingénieur Decaux en 1750 qui prévoyait la construction d'une ville neuve sur le Roc. De 1780 à 1783 fut construite la citerne de la garnison, sur les fondations de laquelle fut élevé un second casernement, terminé en 1788, appelé caserne Gênes-Champagne.Classement monument historique :
